Duomo was challenged in this process to intervene in the current facilities of Schlumberger’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro – built by D + E Turney in 2018. How to include a new concept of architectural innovations in a space with a more conservative profile separated from it?
We took advantage of the client’s briefing and proposed a transition zone between the most orthogonal and the new wing of the Innovationn Factori. We created crossings between these areas that functioned as “time portals”, without radicalizing changes in finishes and interventions. Biophilic Design Concepts such as: lots of transparency, glass, natural lighting and landscaping, which are timeless actions, unite these areas.
A fluid layout in this transition wing also aids this time travel.
